Can I use WD40 on my RV slide out?

WD40 is not really a lubricant. It is WD which = “water displacent.” My slide manufacturer recommends no lubricant…but, if you must, use silicone.

How do RV slide out seals work?

Types of Slide Out Seals Wiper seals flex in or out, depending on how the slide is moving, to prevent water from getting into the slide room. Bulb seals compress against the slide when it’s closed. Sealing an RV slide out has taken on many forms throughout the decades.

Can a slide out seal be raised or lowered?

The RV slide out seal can be brought in or out and raised or lowered depending on which way you tighten or loosen the nuts and bolts on the slide room’s hydraulic arms. Each side of the room can be adjusted independently of the others. If you’re unsure which of these adjustments your room needs, Steve can help!

When to adjust slide out seal on RV?

For instance, if you have a gap on the top of your RV slide out seal, you’ll want to raise the room a little (or a lot!) to shore up that gap and prevent damaging moisture from getting into your RV’s cabin. When it comes to vertical adjustments, you can manipulate one side independently from the other.

Why does my slideout fit at the bottom?

You would screw the bolts in which would raise them and this pushes the room in towards the top. You have to loosen up the bolts in figure 6 first and then re-tighten them when you are through. If not then this may be adjusted by the angle of the rails in relation to the coach. That is where the “Bolt-On” and “Weld-On” terms come from.

Why do I take out one bolt and nut on my slideout?

You just take out the one bolt and nut. This allows you to turn the square drive shaft so that the room will “extend” further but the motor shaft stays where it is. Have someone operate the room for you so you can see which direction the shaft turns when it is going OUT.

If the motor-driven gearbox system is faulty, for whatever reason, your RV slide-out will not work. Your RV slide may experience resistance as it moves in and out.
