How long does a Briggs and Stratton engine run?
My 21 HP Briggs & Stratton would run for 5 minutes and then cut off as if you turned the switch off. No sputtering, just died. It is now healthy and happy and runs like a champ. Here were my steps to fix it: 1. Is it bad gas?: probably not a gas issue if it runs fine for 5 minutes and then just shuts off.

Why does my outboard start and run for 1 minute then dies?
Not open for further replies. My outboard did not start and did not have any spark/sometimes intermittent spark. So on a hunch i decided to replace power pack (used) and sure enough that fixed the problem. Now it starts, however, it only stays for about 1 minute then shuts off.
